Supergroove…ah the memories
A recent discussion on the BV Forum asked what live music people have seen. I don’t see much live music anymore but I used to in my late teens to mid 20s. I remembered that I’d seen a Kiwi funk band called Supergroove a few times and loved them. They split up in 1997 but got back together last year, with a slightly different lineup. They were awesome live, something you can’t tell by their CD or videos. Here is their biggest hit “Can’t Get Enough”:
And the same song live (not great quality but you get the idea):
If they came to Melb again I’d definitely see them.
Some people have way too much time on their hands!
Very cool though
Bom Chicka Wah Wah
Was checking out the weather on the internet so I Googled “BOM” for the Bureau Of Meteorology. A result listed under the BOM was a YouTube vid titled “The Bom Chicka Wah Wah’s“. Of course I had to check it:
They are “sponsored” by a brand of deodorant called AXE.
I then realised it must be what Lynx deodorant is called in the US. At least I hope and that its not a real band.
Good for a laugh anyway.
Engrish!!
This is one of the funniest Engrish entries I’ve seen in a long time. Its exactly the sort of thing the site was created for!

OMG its so random!!
A friend once told me about a website called Catch Of The Day, where they sell one product a day until sold out. Plain and simple. I guess its over-stocked items or old products. Whatever it is, the price is usually really good. They sell anything from clothing to electonic goods and other household items. Once in a while though they will do a “mystery box”. One such mystery box came up again last week. It was a “Mega Baby Box“; 10 random items, some of which are big brand names. I got it because I know two people that have just had babies and I hoped there would be something in the box that is nice. The site says its worth between $60 and $80, and all it costs is $19.95 (plus shipping). I was expecting the goods to be nicely boxed or wrapped (I don’t know why I thought that).
I picked it up from the post office and when I saw the box I thought wow, its huge!! The box was literally quite large. Of course when I lifted it I realised it was half empty. I can’t say I was disappointed but when I opened the box I noticed there was no bubble wrap or invoice or anything. Just the items thrown in and box poorly taped up. I don’t know anything about baby goods but the items look good and I’m sure the total would definitely retail for more than $19.95. So all in all not a bad score. Now I have to see what to give each person.
And now…presenting
As I’ve mentioned I like my YouTube. I was getting ready to go home today and I thought, “I want to make a music video, too!”. So I did. And so armed with the work webcam I recorded myself singing over the top of one of my favourite songs (whilst finalising my cycling gear).
Win a DVD/CD of your fav ALW musical
I made a post about going to see the phantom of the opera next month. I received a couple of comments from a blog called Musical Theatre Spot. And they’ve just announced competition where you can win your fav Andrew Lloyd Webber DVD/CD. I’m not sure whether the comp extends outside of the United States, but it doesn’t matter. I don’t mind if other people from the states stumble across my site and find out about it. I always like to promote good blogs.
Ch ch ch changes…
Its always fascinating and refreshing when a website has a major overhaul of its interface. Most of the time (for big websites) its for the better. I just surfed to The Age newspaper and got a bit of a shock to see it looks dramatically different. I’m guessing all the other associated Fairfax sites have had the same changes.
It looks neater and a more open feel about it, with more use of white space. I think I like it.
