Box of Pooki? Get Pooked!
Got my “Box of Pooki” in the mail today. Well I went to pick it up from the post office. That’s now three things I’ve bought from Catch Of The Day website. I think that’s two items too many!! The first thing I bought was the Bady Mega Box, as posted here. All the items from that one are still in sitting in the box because 1. I don’t have a baby 2. Most of the items are not worthy of giving to my friends who have babies. Then I got the USB HD-TV Tuner was a bargain for $40 odd. But I just spent $50 on an amplified antenna just so I can pick up all the channels properly.\
Then One day I saw the ad for Catch Of The Day’s Birthday celebrations. “Bag of Pooki”, it said. It also said:
* Pooki is our adopted word for C**P.
* You order a bag and we give you a bag, or a box. Oh the suspense!
* We collect any 15 Pooki from the warehouse, and put them in the bag or box.
* We don’t know what Pooki are going in the bag or box. We always deliver ridiculous value for money. It might contain past products from CatchOfTheDay, goodies from daily deals or new things we haven’t sold yet.
* The result? You might jump with indescribable joy, break out into song and dance or just get a warm fuzzy feeling and shout out “I LOVE CATCH OF THE DAY” or not.
I thought I’d give it a go. What a crazy concept. This is what I ended up getting:
A golf caddie drink holder, an Ansley Harriott cooking DVD, a Swiss Army Knife (but no brand), a USB fan, a Freddo Frog, 3 pairs of lady’s socks, a Large T-Shirt, 4 misc items of Jay Jay girls accessories, a The Age photo book “150 years of reflections”, a photo album box, a Denise Austin back support waist band, a “Chef Genius” multi-purpose kitchen tool and my personal favourite, a “Just Add Water” expanding singlet!!!
Needless to say, pretty much all useless products. Most bizarre $30 I’ve ever spent. Never again…
OMG its so random!!
A friend once told me about a website called Catch Of The Day, where they sell one product a day until sold out. Plain and simple. I guess its over-stocked items or old products. Whatever it is, the price is usually really good. They sell anything from clothing to electonic goods and other household items. Once in a while though they will do a “mystery box”. One such mystery box came up again last week. It was a “Mega Baby Box“; 10 random items, some of which are big brand names. I got it because I know two people that have just had babies and I hoped there would be something in the box that is nice. The site says its worth between $60 and $80, and all it costs is $19.95 (plus shipping). I was expecting the goods to be nicely boxed or wrapped (I don’t know why I thought that).
I picked it up from the post office and when I saw the box I thought wow, its huge!! The box was literally quite large. Of course when I lifted it I realised it was half empty. I can’t say I was disappointed but when I opened the box I noticed there was no bubble wrap or invoice or anything. Just the items thrown in and box poorly taped up. I don’t know anything about baby goods but the items look good and I’m sure the total would definitely retail for more than $19.95. So all in all not a bad score. Now I have to see what to give each person.
