I’m EX-COITED

First post in ages. Slack I know. Anyhoo…

I’ve been cycling for a year and a half now and my fondness for it just grows and grows. I just love everything about it. It even makes going to work bearable.

As a recreational activity and work transport it is most excellent for so many reasons, but I’ve never taken much notice of cycling as a sport (being a spectator, that is).

Until now…

I caught a little of the Tour de France last year. I knew nothing about the Tour or any of the riders. Though at the time one couldn’t help but hear Cadel Evan’s name as he got ever so close to the Yellow Jersey.

Since then I’ve slowly picked up bits and pieces of cycling knowledge from TV, magazines and friends. Now I’ve got the Tour fever BAD!!!!! I’ve never anticipated a sporting event as I have for this year’s TdF. I bought the Cycling Australia magazine with many TdF articles and guides. And I’m getting pumped for many late nights tuned into SBS in July.

There really is no sporting event that tests a man’s will and determination like the TdF. Stuff of legends. There’s more drama, strategy and bike bling than you can poke a carbon bike pump at.

I can’t wait!!!

Until then, you can read this rather amusing article called Cycling Style Etiquette

End of an era

Last Monday was my last day of work at The Smith Family, where I’ve been there 3 years part time and nearly full time all last year. I have had such a wonderful time there and I’ll take away so many fond memories. I have so met so many wonderful people, both staff and the other people I’ve had contact with. I was mainly an IT trainer for disadvantaged people in the community. I ran a variety of classes and workshops for people of all ages, backgrounds and ability.

It was a truely rewarding experience and I would have been able to get that anywhere else. I really do believe in the organisation and what they do. The focus has gone from pure wellfare to education and change. There are many ways you can help The Smith Family, be it sponsoring a child, making a small donation, mentoring or volunteering. Every little bit helps. So please visit their website for more information.

Win a DVD/CD of your fav ALW musical

I made a post about going to see the phantom of the opera next month. I received a couple of comments from a blog called Musical Theatre Spot. And they’ve just announced competition where you can win your fav Andrew Lloyd Webber DVD/CD. I’m not sure whether the comp extends outside of the United States, but it doesn’t matter. I don’t mind if other people from the states stumble across my site and find out about it. I always like to promote good blogs.

First post…again!

This is my fourth or fifth blog with a different tool and so this is not really my first post, but it is first wordpress post. Also I thought I could “republish” my live.com blog from here using a tool but doesn’t look like I can. I was a bit sick of live blog because it looked a bit teenie bopper. Not fan of how long it takes to load either. Some of the gadgets written for it are neither here nor there.

So here I am using wp. I love all the options and how customisable it is. Of course I haven’t played around with it yet but I’ve seen some other wp blogs and what you can do with it and I can’t wait to fiddle around with it.
