Quote of the day

It’s easier to get it off with your hand“….. said a friend today.

I would have thought that was obvious!!!

Context: was about getting dog hair off my clothing, after I had asked if she had a sticky hair roller.

Random citings

Yesterday’s weather was lovely. Not too hot, if a little windy. I ate my sandwich at the park across the road from work. I’m glad I remembered my sunnies!

Then I went for a walk afterwards. 3 Things that struck me:

1. Lots of pretty people in the CBD and I hope my next job is still in the city. So convenient.

2. Man chroming (sp?) in the middle of the day at possibly the busiest street in the CBD. Nobody batted an eyelid.

3. I must scream of customer service. I went to Kmart and 3 different people thought I worked there! Kmart staff don’t even wear blue shirt. Grrr

Exhibitionists

There are probably other words I could use to describe the phenomenon that happens to the block of flats across the road from me, but exhibitionist is what I thought of.

I live on the second floor of an apartment block and it has a lounge room with full length windows and a balcony which overlooks another apartment block across the road.

I have lived here for over 7 years and I can’t work out why the tenants over there want the world to see them parading around in their birthday suits. You might say that they are comfortable in their own skin and their image, but everybody else doesn’t have to see it.

There are two offending apartments with tenants that stroll around from the bathroom to their bedrooms/loungerooms nude. But that’s not the strange thing. Both the apartments have changed tenants at least three times in the 7 years I’ve been here. Bit of a coincidence that everyone that moves into those 2 apartments feels they don’t need to close the curtains when they are not wearing anything. It’s like there a ghost or some spell in those apartments that makes the tenants do it.

Like this morning. The lower of the 2 apartments had been vacant for the past 6-8 weeks. I thought thank god that I don’t have to see that middle age man sitting on the toilet or walking around his lounge in the nude anymore.

When I woke up I got my bowl of cereal and opened the curtains and stepped out onto the balcony. I look across and sure enough. Nudie nude nude!! New tenant. Or should that be newd tenant. Grrr!

What gives?

Why?

I don’t want to come across as insensitive. So first of all, I hope they still find missing Aussie backpacker Britt Lapthorne alive and well somewhere. But worst case scenario, that the body that was found turns out to be her. At least her family and friends will have some closure.

But here’s the thing. People go missing in Australia everyday. We don’t here a peep about them. No one demands immediate action and say not enough is being done. So why are we hearing so much about Britt’s case and not any of the others? Is it because she went missing overseas? Is it because the media thinks she is an interesting “story”? I know having the media exposure can actually raise awareness and assist in finding the person but I’m sure that’s not why the media are all over it.

This is like the case of Madeline McCann, the little English girl that went missing in Portugal. It was (and still is to a degree) a media circus. It got to a point where I didn’t relate to her as a missing person anymore but more like a mystery movie as if it wasn’t real.

At the time people were already questioning why so much attention on her when others go missing all the time. They compared it to another British girl that went missing of similar age and her case got hardly any mention. They questioned whether it was becuase Madeline was froma wealthy background and was cute and the other girl was Jo Average. I think she was eventually found.

Anyway, again I hope Britt is found.

Some never learn (or don’t care)

OK. I’m still unemployed and as a result I spend most of my time at home. I get to see the in’s and out’s of what’s happening outside my flat. Think of me as the neighbourhood watch person!!

Anyhoo, this morning a person parked their car on the other side of the road to my block of flats. That’s normal? Not if you have the car facing the other way! Yes, this happens to people from time to time. I don’t know what could possibly be on their minds when they do that. I guess there could be countries in the world where that is OK.

The parking officers are hardcore in my council and before I knew it they had a ticket for parking on the street facing the wrong way. That was this morning. The car was there until after lunch and then they left.

BUT…

I’ve justed noticed that the car is back AND THEY’VE PARKED IN THE SAME SPOT AND FACING THE WRONG WAY AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What’s wrong with that person??????? I should be a good samaritan and put a note on their windscreen or something. Or maybe after they get their second ticket they will learn.
